Shri Shakambari Mata Ji


Cause of Establishment:
To expand the faith for the goddess and her wonderous deeds and to make a place of worship available to the devotees, this charming and delightful spot was selected for the temple location. The Nath cult has a special reverence for this temple.
Brief of the Diety:
Both the idols are lion riding goddesses in the posture of killing Mahishasura. They both are eight armed. Their faces are Vermillion pasted. The only difference between the two is of the stone. That of Brahmani is made of marble while that of Rudrani is made of locally available med stone.

 The Shikhar of the temple bear highly artistic statuettes of gods and goddesses. On a platform of the elegantly hewn stones is placed a silver throne with drawn patterns there on. This is the seat for the deities. Mandapa or the prayer portico was initially built in the Vikram Samvat 699 (647 A.D.). Afterwards in 11th and 12th centuries it was repaired and renovated. The present edifice came is this shape in the Vikram Samvat 1970 (1913 A.D.). The work was accomplished on the 7th day of bright half of Vaisakha in Samvat 1980 (1923 A.D.). The huge temple in its present form was built by Seth Ram Gopal Dangayach and his family.

Religious aspects of temple:
The goddesses (deities) in the temple are the incarnations of Devi Bhagwati. Visitors and devotees come to the temple with their wishes, which are fulfilled by the deity. Again after their fulfillment of wishes, they visit the temple and offer Prasadam (sweet dishes cooked and offered to the deity with ceremony). The deity accepts the Prasadam, which is then distributed to all. Strong and unflinching faith in the miraculous powers of the deities draw the devotees from far all places.

Unique features of the temple:
The Arawalli Hills are the world's most ancient hills. That part of the Arawalis, names as Malketu, this temple is built and it is an ancient shrine. A stone inscription in Sanskrit language and Devanagari script are in a beautiful style and ornamental script. In this inscription hymns to Lord Ganesh, Chandrika Devi and Kuvera. In the high-pinnacled temple of Shri Shakambhari, there is ample space available for the visitors to lodge. Charity lodges are available.
Festivals & Fairs in Temple (Main Events):
Every year in the dark half of Bhadrapada month, visitors circumambulate the temple from the Ninth day to Amavasya the moonless night.
