In the heart of Rajasthan , the colourful land of the
Rajputs is the region of Shekhawati, taking its name from the powerful
Shekhawat clan. The legends of this historic land have been captured in the
murals and frescoes of its Havelis, Forts, Temples, and cenotaphs. Set against

History
A pioneer in mud architecture, The award winning Desert
Resort was built in1985 .A brainchild of Thakur kesri Singh, a former
banker.Singh created the resort as an extension of his hobies. You can see his
private collection of Vintage cars,play billiards, go for a horse ride/camel
ride or do a bit of bidr watching at the oasis created specially at the resort.
Singh has been a pioneer of Heritage Hotels in India.
Kesri Singh resides at Castle mandawa and divides his time between his
properties at Jaipur and Mandawa
The mystery and romance of the desert are captured in
the unusual architecture of the resort.Created by local village craftsmen using
mud and brick,the cottages reflect the traditional harmony between man and
nature in the region.
Each cottage and room is furnished in a distinctive
style. The exteriors are decorated with traditional lime – paste “mandana” or
rice flour patterns which are redone daily by women from the village,while the
interiors are ornamented with mirror work and glass beads in myriad
colours.Authenticity blends seamlessly with modernity. Each cottage has a
double bed, an intimate sitting area, and a spacious bathroom,complemented by
woven fabric and hand made pottery.Apart frm the rooms and cottages guests can
choose to stay in spacious luxury suites.
Climate & Location
Mandawa is located in the Shekhawati region of
Rajasthan. Renowned for its frescoed Havelis and Palaces, Shekhawati is aptly
termed the ‘Open Air Art Gallery‘. of Rajasthan. Set against this exotic
backdrop just a km away from Castle Mandawa is The Desert Resort, built atop a
magnificent sand dune with the vista of the desert all around.

By Rail:
The Shekhawati express connects Mandawa to Delhi and
Jaipur.The nearest railway stations are Mukundgarh -14 kms and
Jhunjhunu(Shekhawati) 22 kms. Pick ups and Drops to the station are arranged on
request.
Climate:
Its a Semi desert region. Summer (May-June) temprature
range from 20 degrees at night to 45 degrees in the day. Winter (Dec-Jan)
temprature range from 20 degrees during the day to minus 2 at night. Best time
to visit Castle Mandawa is from October to April.
Special Features
The Desert Resort is unique in the respect that it
relies on nature and local amenities for all its requirements. The Desert
Resort features an in-house dairy, solar heating and organic farming.
Here everything is procured locally including
handicrafts made by the rural women and even the dyeing of these products is
in-house which provides employment for the rural women in Mandawa. The Crafts
Shop sells colouful handicrafts made by the rural women. The Desert Resort also
has its own helipad.
Restaurants
Guests can enjoy delectable Indian, Continental and
Chinese fare with live counters in a buffet-style setting.
Meals are also served in the open where guests can
indulge in the charms of the desert and the local musicians.
